Dr Hanan Chehata

Hanan Chehata is an activist, political writer and commentator on the Middle East. She is also actively involved in various charitable and humanitarian initiatives.

Educated at Brunel University in London, Dr Chehata received her BA in Law in 2000 followed by a Master’s in Criminal Justice in 2002 and a PhD in Law in 2007. Her main area of expertise is the Israel-Palestine conflict and she is a regular writer on Palestinian affairs. Her articles have been published by the New Statesman and Al Jazeera English among other well-known media outlets. She lectured in Criminal Law at Brunel University in 2003-04 before becoming Press Officer at Middle East Monitor from 2009-2012.

Dr Chehata is the author of The Cultural Genocide of Palestine (MEMO, 2010), Isn’t it time for America to re-evaluate its “special relationship” with Israel? (MEMO, 2010), and Shin Bet: an Ingrained Culture of Torture and Deceit (MEMO, 2011).
